L’Acérola du Brésil

L’Acérola, est un petit arbuste de la famille des Malpighiacées, poussant spontanément dans les régions tropicales d’Amérique du Sud, en particulier au Pérou et dans les forêts amazoniennes (Brésil, Venezuela).
Les fleurs rouge vif donnent naissance peu de temps après la floraison à un fruit rouge, également appelé « cerise des Barbades » ou « cerise des Antilles ». Le fruit est comestible, de goût acidulé et agréable. Au Brésil on consomme les fruits sous forme de jus, gelée ou de confitures.
Propriétés : Le fruit de l’Acérola est l’un des plus riches en vitamine C. Sa teneur varie de 1000 à 1500 mg pour 100g, soit 30 fois plus que les agrumes ! Une trentaine de grammes de ces « cerises » en contient autant que 1 kg d’oranges. De plus, la présence de bioflavonoïdes dans l’extrait d’Acérola potentialise l’absorption de la vitamine C par l’organisme et prolonge son effet protecteur. La vitamine C intervient dans des centaines de processus métaboliques. C’est un antioxydant important, elle intervient également dans la fonction immunitaire, et dans la fabrication du collagène.
