Pourquoi les français consomment-ils des compléments alimentaires?

Le Crédoc (centre de recherche pour l’étude et l’observation des conditions de vie) et la TNS Sofrès ont récemment cherché à comprendre comment les compléments alimentaires sont perçus par les français.
De plus en plus de français, près de 90% en 2007 contre 75% dix ans auparavant, considèrent que l’alimentation est essentielle pour se maintenir en bonne santé. Ils surveillent de près le contenu de leur assiette et consomment parfois des compléments alimentaires. Les nutraceutiques, cependant, sont encore méconnus d’une bonne partie de la population. Ils font toutefois de plus en plus d’adeptes. A quoi est dû cet engouement croissant?
La politique de prévention du Programme National Nutrition Santé y est certainement pour quelque chose. Peu de français en effet parviennent à consommer 5 fruits et légumes par jour et cherchent à combler leurs déficits en vitamines et minéraux.
La plupart des consommateurs recherchent également le bien-être et veulent être acteurs de leur santé. Ils sont amateurs de produits qui proposent de booster leur vitalité, particulièrement en période hivernale, de lutter contre le stress ou de compenser les déséquilibres de leur alimentation.
